Take The First Step

Take the first

Step

In February, I took part in a leadership cohort, led by my mentor, where my approach to business was challenged. I always dreamed of a career where I could dress casually as a sign of ultimate freedom but my mentor’s critique was that my dress was hindering me from my ultimate goal. My goal is to grow my family’s organization nationally but, as was pointed out, my dress would stifle potential employees, customers, and stakeholders from taking me seriously. The photo you see is me investing in my goal. As I sat in the mirror, I envisioned a different life and the man I needed to become to achieve it. I got excited thinking about the possibilities all from taking the first step and I want you to feel it as well.

Most of you reading this email have goals God has called you to that you need to take that first step towards. For many legitimate and maybe some illegitimate reasons you never did. Maybe it always seemed too far away of a dream, maybe you feared failing to reach it or just maybe you feared the person you would become if you did in fact make it. The scary reality is, we never have any true clarity of what the end result looks. The only thing we can rely on is, if God called us to it, he will sustain us in our obedience. Even when times get hard with no solution in sight, God uses it for our good and his glory.

Whatever it is, take that first step. Go back to church, get that membership, cancel that subscription or make that budget. Your goals and the life God has called you to are on the other side of your obedience. Not on some prosperity gospel vibes, I’m taking Godly flourishing for you, your family and your lineage need you to step out. The body of Christ needs to be served by what you have been uniquely gifted. The community of mankind will benefit as a result of you intentionally leaving your legacy. It all starts with you taking your first step!
