Our in-person fellowships are coming soon but they aren’t for everyone. Most men understand the need for accountability but few will seek it out. Before we begin, it is important to clarify who is and isn’t the intended participant. First and foremost, these are not for males who do not accept accountability. The point is to bring out our best and if you don’t receive accountability well, you’ll miss out. That also means participates can’t resist confrontation. If a brother is slipping, it is the responsibility of the group to say something. It doesn’t have to be harsh but it can’t go unaddressed due to fear of conflict. Finally, this is not the group for those who lack ambition or avoid responsibility. A basic level of internal motivation is required for the collective goal of the brotherhood, so laziness and apathy will stick out. These are the gates we all must fight to keep.
Who is the brotherhood designed for then? First, we welcome all Christian men submitted to a local church body and leadership. Submission to a church is not just biblical, which is our foundation, it shows the willingness to be accountable and follow before leading. Next, we welcome husbands committed to a one wife marriage and fathers active in their children’s lives. Our home is our first ministry and the commitment to them shows the ability to commit to others. Finally, we welcome hard working men of any kind providing for their households. Whether you’re a sole provider or a joint contributor, we value your willingness to work for the good of others. These are the men we want to link arms with as brothers.
Each meetup will serve a different need but will have the same expectations. First, we will uphold the biblical standards of manhood, not society’s. Whether you land progressive or conservative, all perspectives will be challenged in light of the Bible. Next, expect to put your faith in action. This isn’t a think tank, it’s a goal-oriented, agenda-driving group. Finally, expect to be held and hold brothers accountable. We need each other to reach our collective goals so we all need to do our part. If this is the brotherhood you’ve been looking for, we’ve been looking for you too.
