Presence Changes

Men

I often battle with my desire to serve others with my gifts and talents versus my need for validation and affirmation. I was sharing this with my wife and was encouraged to pray for discernment. That same day, I believe God answered that prayer. On the second week of my brother and I working out together, a younger guy saw us and asked to work out with us. When we first met him, he was bragging about having multiple girlfriends, yet we responded that I was married with kids and my brother is soon to be engaged. The next time we met up, he asked about marriage and what he needed to do to prepare for it. We shared the wisdom of our experiences and encouraged him to commit to one woman. I never would have been able to pour into him had I been in my head battling. Sometimes the value is in just showing up and being present in the moment. Formation requires and accelerates with that presence.

I don’t know if you’re overthinking it, your community needs your presence and you need to be in the presence of others. Like me, there are men in your life who need the wisdom of your past experiences to improve their current circumstances. At the same time, we all have areas where we struggle that another brother has already overcome. It is through presence where this exchange of wisdom happens and betters our community. We all need people around us to help us grow and improve. People you know and can be open and honest enough for them to see you at your best and worst. They hold each other accountable and call you to the full potential of the goals you both set out.

Personal discipline, relational presence and professional stewardship are the goals of FPP Culture. Our society needs credible leaders. When men remain in isolation, we don’t sharpen each other into credible leaders. FPP Culture’s accountability fellowships will be the solution. Without accountability of presence, no one gets challenged and pushed out of their comfort zones.
