Laziness VS Rest
Laziness vs Rest
Talking to a friend this week at church reminded of this internal battle. He shared his decision to refuse taking jobs on Sunday to truly experience sabbath rest and we both wrestled with the struggle of not feeling productive even though we’ve been called to rest. If this is your struggle, you are not alone, however, to overcome it we need to truly understand the difference between laziness and rest.
Laziness is refusal to work when needed and rest is the recharge needed to sustain your work. One is the unwillingness to do what’s necessary and the other is what’s necessary to be able to be willing. We need to rest in God’s presence to be recharged to serve our ministries. We need to rest our minds from social media so we have mental clarity. Our bodies need rest days for the healing and recovery to grow stronger.
God calls us to rest and we need rest. If you struggle with feeling unproductive when not busy, remember rest is your refresh for productivity. Go be productive and get some rest!
